Customer get following question about SN65DPHY440SS: could you help check comments?

The retimer spec says the highest EQ level is for channel insertion loss of 4dB@500MHz，is it means when the total insertion loss is below 4dB@500MHz（1Gbps signal rate），the retimer can receive the correct data by EQ level 3.

It seems the capability of retime is much stronger than the requirement of MIPI standard（-2dB@ Nyquist frequency）, am I right?

It means the DPHY440 can provide up to 4dB compensation at 500MHz Nyquist frequency (1Gbps signal rate) and 5dB compensation at 750MHz Nyquist frequency (1.5Gbps signal rate).

The -2dB spec in the MIPI standard defines the insertion loss profile of the Transmission-Line Signal-Routing (TLSR).

You want the maximum acceptable insertion loss to stay within the total compensation capability of the transmitter TX and the re-timer RX EQ.
