TIC10024-Q1: Battery supply range - 18 V for 1 hour ISO 16750-2

Part Number: TIC10024-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIC12400-Q1

Hello,

I am planning to use the TIC10024-Q1 in an automotive ECU.

Since, as stated in the datasheet, the TIC10024-Q1 is designed and tested according to the ISO 16750-2: can I assume that it supports all the tests from the ISO although they are not mentioned in the datasheet?

In particular, the ISO defines a test at 18 V supply voltage for 1 hour, which is not explicitly mentioned in the datasheet. Is this test supported?

Thank you in advance,

Luca

  • Hi Luca,

In addition to specifically stating that "It shall be noted that the TIC10024-Q1 is designed and tested according to the ISO 16750-2 standard." The datasheet mentions "±8 kV Contact discharge ESD protection on input pins per ISO-10605 with appropriate external components."

I would assume that the device was only tested to the ISO16750-2 standard and the ISO-10605 standard, but not all ISO standards.

  • Hi Amy,

Thank you for your answer. I am afraid my question was not clear.

What I am trying to confirm is if TIC10024-Q1 is tested with all the tests defined in the ISO 16750-2, including the tests not mentioned in the datasheet.

The test I am most interested in is the 18 V for 1h test, which is part of the ISO 16750-2. I assume the TIC10024-Q1 does support it, but I want to make sure since it is stated the IC supports nominal operating voltage up to 16 V.

  • Hi Luca,

I noticed in the datasheet that after the statement of "It shall be noted that the TIC12400-Q1 is designed and tested according to the ISO 16750-2 standard." it mentions that "A few voltage stress tests and their test conditions are listed below" - I take this to mean that that datasheet is not all inclusive of ISO 16750-2 tests run, but the device was tested by the ISO 16750-2 standards. The TIC10024-Q1 contains a supplemental application note "Protecting 12-V MSDI Devices in a 24-V System" that contains further detail of the ISO 16750-2 load dump test: Protecting 12-V MSDI Devices in a 24-V System. If you need more details, I can check into this further and see what I find.

  • Hi Amy,

    Thank you for your feedback.

To summarize it appears that the TIC10024-Q1 is ISO 16750-2 compliant and that it may be used in 24 V systems respecting certain conditions.
