TSER9615: max distance

Part Number: TSER9615

Hello,

We are working with MJPEG compressed video in an inspection camera (~500Mbps, +bi-directional control info).

We need to go comfortably out +100m. Our coax will be small compared to large industry standard Bleden cables.

Can the TSER9615 support a 100+ meter distance?

Thank you, Keith

  • Hello Keith,

The main requirement for a link between our FPD-Link devices is to meet our channel requirements. This means making sure the entire high-speed channel (Ser PCB Trace -> Cable -> Des PCB Traces) is within the Insertion Loss and Return Loss limits defined in our Channel Specs Document.

This Channel Specs Document is NDA and can only be shared if your company has an NDA with TI. In addition, you would need to reach out to your local TI sales office and have the TI FAE request the Channel Specs document on your behalf for the specific FPD-Link devices. If there are any specific questions about the process for requesting the Channel Specs document, the TI FAE can ask over the internal E2E forum.

Theoretically, if your COAX cable has low Insertion Loss per meter length, then it may be possible to reach a long cable length. However, you would have to do verify after reviewing our Channel Specs document and analyzing the loss characteristics of the cable.

    Best,

    Justin Phan
