DP83869HM: 2 supply vs 3 supply

Hi, need some clarification on a recent datasheet update. In the update, the SUPPLYMODE_SEL strap pin that was removed from the datasheet since it wasn’t on the part. How does the DP83869HM part knows its in 2-supply vs. 3-supply mode.

Hi Kannan,

The PHY will be able to detect the presence/absence of the 1.8V rail supply and be able to go into 2-supply mode vs 3-supply. This is why there is a time limit of 50ms max on VDDA1P8 for rail to ramp.
