TUSB211: TUSB211 eye diagram tuning

Part Number: TUSB211
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , TUSB216I

Hi Team

below is our customer eye diagram

beside tuning EQ . do we have any other way to tuning the eye diagram?

  • Hi Brian,

With the TUSB211, there are no other ways to tune the eye diagram.

I would recommend looking at the TUSB211A, which is P2P and has DC boost mixed in with AC boost on the EQ pin as well as general performance improvements, or the TUSB216I, which has all that was previously mentioned as well as RX Sensitivity settings for ISI jitter.

Are the eye diagrams provided all with the redriver enabled?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan

    Thanks for your feedback.

they have make sure the EN pin already pull high. if they change  solution to TUSB211A. is it possible to reduce the jitter?

the major concern from customer side is jitter.

  • Hi Brian,

Yes, switching to the TUSB211A should help reduce the jitter.

    Thanks,

  • hi Ryan

customer side have feedback they use TUSB211A and jitter become worse.

below is SCH and PIN4 is floating.

they have a USB hub in front of this IC.

do you think the USB hub or Pin 4 floating relate to the jitter performance?

could you share some action to let RD side or me to check?

Many thanks for your help Slight smile

  • Hi Brian,

More jitter is not expected. Would it be possible for your customer to grab an eye diagram or two and provide those to us? I would like to see how the TUSB211A affects that.

If possible, could you also possibly provide a full schematic or a layout surrounding the USB2 pathing? I would like to verify that there are no issues in the trace, or anything that maybe be influencing this.

One other recommendation I have would be to lower boost, and see how that improves it, as I believe it should.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
