TCAN1043A-Q1: Resistance constant around WAKE

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1

Hello team.

The data sheet lists the recommended resistance value for wake, but why is the listed resistance value recommended?
Could you please let me know if there is anything that needs to be considered regarding the resistance value?

The reason for the question is that the data sheet specifies a pull-up resistor configuration, but I am considering using it in a pull-down resistor configuration.

  • Hi Rui,

Thanks for bringing your question to E2E.

The recommended resistor values for the WAKE pin are set to ensure that the voltage level requirements for the pin are reached in a given configuration. A low-side switch configuration is included in the datasheet examples in section 8.4.1.5.2 with a describe of how the select each resistor value. The pull-down resistor is valued to ensure that the low-level input of the WAKE pin will be reached given a certain Vsup range. The series resistor is used to limit the current on the WAKE pin and needs to be taken into account given the device's internal bias. Let me know if you have any questions on the values and equations given in the datasheet.

    Regards,
