DS280DF810: SigCon EEPROM Settings + Guide?

Part Number: DS280DF810

Hi Team,

The customer have 4 devices cascaded with consecutive I2Cs, no issues there but not sure what the following fields need to be set to in order to make sure that the device is properly set:

Common Channel Select (Which channel does this need to be set to?)

EEPROM Header:  Common Channel Enabled? Does this need to be done?

Slot Update Details: Do I select this for all slots or a specific number of slots?

Is there a specific section of the datasheet that highlights exactly when to enable or disable these settings? Let me know whenever possible!

Thank you,

 Filipe

  • Hi Filipe,

Just double checking, does the customer intend to configure the devices via EEPROM?

If common channel is enabled, all retimer channels will have the same setting.  If it's possible for all the retimer channels to have the same setting, this is recommended as it uses less EEPROM space.

Common channel select should select whichever channel has the intended settings.

Press "update slot from device" to update the EEPROM settings with the register settings configured in sigcon architect.

Press "update device from slot" to update the sigcon architect register settings with the EEPROM settings.

There's not a particular part of the data sheet that covers these details, but we have an application note discussing the EEPROM file format.  Reviewing this will add clarity to the EEPROM page settings.

  • Hi David,

Thanks for the feedback, a few follow on questions.

"Common channel select" is set to 7 (if all channels are configured the same this setting shouldn't matter, correct?)

"Slot update details" is set to all slots (is this correct?)

    "Address/Slot list selection" is set to 0 (0x30), 1 (0x32), 2 (0x34) 3 (0x36) (are the slot number assigned correctly?)

  • Hi Joseph,

If all channels are configured the same, then "common channel select" of channel 7 is fine.

Having slot update details set to "all slots" will configure all 4 retimer devices with the same configuration.

    Thanks,

    Drew
