DS90UB953-Q1: Multioutput Serializer Configuration

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hello,

I want to use one serializer and two deserializer. Is there any way for connecting one serializer to two deserializer? I saw bloack diagram for coax cable configuration on the datasheet document. Figure about configuration is given below. Also the block diagram about my quesiton is given.

If i connect Serializer - DOUT+ to Deserializer-1 - DOUT+ and Serializer - DOUT- to Deserializer-2 - DOUT-, will it work? Or could you advice for any other options?

Thanks. Best Regards.

  • Hello,

Thank you for your question. We do not have any multiport serializers that are capable of connecting to multiple deserializers. However, based on your block diagram, it appears the intent of the system is to transmit the same data from a single image sensor to two different CPUs. It is possible to do this by using the replicate function with a deserializer with multiple CSI output ports. For example, a deserializer like the DS90UB960 has two CSI output ports that can be programmed to replicate each other. By using the replicate feature both CPUs would receive the same data. If a lower resolution/bandwidth is used in your system the DS90UB954 also has a replicate feature, but instead of a separate CSI port the single 4-lane CSI port can be divided into two 2-lane CSI ports. This would look similar to the block diagram below.

  • Hi Darrah,

CPU-1 and CPU-2 are not close to each other. MIPI CSI is not enough for CPU-2. How can i use your diagram?

  • Hello,

Do you mean that the CPU-2 will not be close enough to connect to the deserializer directly from the CSI port? If a farther distance needs to be covered, additional FPD-Link devices can be used to extend the distance (ex: deserializer outputs to second serializer). What distance will the deserializer be from each CPU?

  • Hello,

For extend the distance, can i use second serializer-deserializer? Is there a limit for adding new ser-des configuration? For example can i extend the distance 100 m for using 4 ser-des configuration? (The distance between CPU's 25 m for each one)

  • Hello,

An additional serializer-deserializer pair can be used to act as a repeater or extender. There is no specific limit on the number of repeaters or devices that can be used, but with each additional connection the possibility of signal degradation, errors, or noise is introduced. It would be recommended to conduct testing at the system level to ensure that all connections and devices function as expected.
