DS280DF810: IC function check

Hi Team

My customer Accton is using DS280DF810. I have some questions that I would like to confirm with you and would like your help.

Is it correct that AC coupling is not required at the four positions A, B, C, and D?

Especially in position C, we now have AC coupling, so we should remove this AC coupling. IS this the right thing to do?

Add one question. DS280DF810 TX/RX seems to have series capacitors inside.But in this picture there is no capacitor in the red circle.

Hi Boyan,

1) Yes, AC coupling can be removed at these locations since the DS280DF810 has on-device AC coupling for both RX and TX.

2) I'm not sure why this diagram does not show AC couple on TX, but the DS280DF810 does have AC coupling on TX. I think the diagram is confusing, we'll take note of this.

1)DS280DF810ABVT both side have AC coupling?

2)DS280DF810ABVT and DS280DF810ABWT AC coupling design is the same TX/RX have AC coupling?

3) If the retimer already has an internal capacitor, will it cause any problems if we put an external 0.1uf?

Hi,

1) Yes, this is correct.

2) Yes, this is correct.

3) We would not expect any issues. This is common since the retimer is used for front port applications and SFP modules have on-board AC coupling.
