TPD4E02B04:I want to use it for USB_Vbus

Part Number: TPD4E02B04
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD4E05U06, , ESD441
Is it possible to use TPD4E02B04 for USB_Vbus?
  • Hi,

Since TPD4E02B04 has a 3.6V working voltage, we typically don't recommend it for VBUS since VBUS usually has a 5V operating voltage. ESD441 and TPD4E05U06 would be suitable options for VBUS.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

  • When using TPD4E05U06, is it okay to connect USB_Vbus to pin 1, D+ to pin 4, and D- to pin 5 to combine them into one TPD4E05U06? Is it better to connect the USB_Vbus and the differential signal to a different TPD4E05U06?

  • Hi,

Yes, it is okay to use one TPD4E05U06 for VBUS and D+/D-. The only thing to be aware of is to make sure the clamping voltage of TPD4E05U06 is less than or equal to the absolute maximum of the downstream circuitry of the ESD device.

This is a helpful application note we have on protecting USB interfaces: ESD and Surge Protection for USB Interfaces. Please let me know if you have more questions.
