Team, 

My customer wants to find a CAN controller, supply needs to be 3.3V, can interface with micro-controller by SPI. The device shouldn't include CAN transceiver function, only include the CAN controller. Could you please help to recommend one solution? Thanks!

    Hi Qiang,

    We don't have a standalone CAN controller IC that can be supplied by 3.3V and does not have an integrated transceiver.

    The TCAN4550, TCAN4550-Q1, and TCAN4551-Q1 devices are our only options for a CAN controller with SPI interface.  Unfortunately they all have an integrated transceiver and all require a supply voltage larger than 3.3V because of the integrated 5V LDO that supplies the CAN transceiver.  However, if they can provide a supply voltage of at least 6V, then the internal transceiver can be bypassed to allow the devices to be used just as controllers connected to external transceivers.
