DS90UB953-Q1: How can i connect chassis between the camera and the cpu for power over coax configuration?

Hello,

I have system that has no chassis connections like a vehicle. Different units have not a same chassis potential because there is no connection between unit's chassis. If i use power over coax for ser-des configuration, do i need connect the chassis? Because, the supply current must back to the power supply.

Hello Omer,

You do not need to connect both modules to the chassis, but they do need to share a common ground connection to allow for a return current path. Typically with coaxial cable, the shield of the cable acts as the ground connection between the SER and DES modules. So you must connect the shield of the coax cable to the board ground on both sides

Hello Casey,

For EMI issues i want to connect two chassis each other. Do you advice double shielded cable or twinax cable for this purpose?

Omer,

Typically we recommend to use common cable types of Dacar 302, Dacar 462, RTK 031, etc. for these serial links

Yes, we recommend Rosenberger HFM (High Speed Mini Fakra), or TE MateAX connectors for these devices in most cases.
