TCAN4550-Q1: Can 4550 support transmit/receive a mixture of CAN frame with standard ID & extended ID?

Can one FIFO be config to support standard & extended ID.

And for CAN & CAN-FD support, can one FIFO be config to support both CAN frame and CAN-FD frame?

Hi Jess,

Yes. The standard or extended message ID type does not make any difference in how the message is stored in the FIFO.   The device will store both types in the RX FIFOs.

By the way, how about CAN & CAN-FD support on the same CAN bus?

A CAN FD bus can support Classic CAN messages without errors.

A CAN bus cannot support CAN FD messages without errors.

In order for any CAN FD message to be supported, ALL nodes on the bus MUST be capable of supporting CAN FD.  But ALL CAN FD nodes will also support CAN messages.
