DS90UB9702-Q1: MIPI CSI Input

Part Number: DS90UB9702-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VH-Q1, DS90UB953-Q1,

Tool/software:

We are using DS90UB953-Q1 to DS90UB9702-Q1 serdes communication in our design connected to TDA4VH-Q1 SOC  whereas, three no of DS90UB953-Q1 serializer data(3xFPD III)  is communicated to one  DS90UB9702-Q1  Deserializer and from deserializer to SOC  it is connected through only two MIPI CSI ports( csi2-0 and csi2-2).

My detailed query  regarding deserializer to SOC communication is as follows,
*since I have  3 individual camera information which is processed through 3 different serializers(DS90UB953-Q1), will it be required for me to use 3 individual MIPI CSI ports from SOC? Or if I can proceed by connecting only 2 MIPI CSI ports and use replicate options how can i configure in schematics, expecting your detailed response to understand better!

  • Hello,

Thank you for your question. Similar to our other multi-port deserializers, information from multiple cameras/ports can be forwarded and output to the same CSI ports. Each camera does not require a separate CSI port. To program which CSI port each RX port will forward camera information to, program register 0x20 accordingly. More details on CSI forwarding can be found in the "CSI-2 Forwarding" section of the data sheet. The physical connections between the CSI ports and the SOC are not dependent on how the data is divided between the ports. Regardless of the data or number of ports being used, please follow the CSI-2 guidelines found in the "Layout Guidelines" section of the data sheet.
