TFP410 driving two displays?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP410, TMDS442

Hi

I have a question about the TI TFP410 chip we use.

Specifically, I’d like to know if I can split the analog output from this chip into two different DVI connectors (can it handle such configuration) ? If not how best can I do this?

Cheers

Calum

  • I expect you'll need a 1:2 fanout buffer device, since TMDS lines are terminated inside receivers, and having two receivers present would cause incorrect voltages.  I'll check if we have such a device.

    Thanks,

  • Calum, we have a solution: TMDS442.

    The caveats are:
    1. Both sinks have to be compatible as far as the video resolutions.
    2. Only one of the two sinks will be the "master"
    3. HDCP can not be decrypted by both sinks (only the master will operate correctly)
