TL16C754B: Why is the "drop in" alternate noted on the website (TL16C754C) incompatible with the original part footprint

Seeking an alternate to the TLC754B, leveraging TI's website it notes a drop in replacement - TL16C754C

When I inspect the comparison:

Compare products (ti.com)

It is clear there is no footprint compatibility.

Please explain.

    Hi Lindsay,

    This looks like a mistake on our end. Not sure if the 'drop in' statement is something that may have been auto appended by a backend system or if someone may have made a mistake but I can talk with our marketing engineer to see if we can fix this.
