TCAN1146-Q1: The use of watchdog of TCAN1146-Q1

Part Number: TCAN1146-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello expert,

Could you please consult TCAN1146 when we use watchdog, this is our schematic architecture below.

After checking watchdog, it will reset INH for 300ms > Tuv sleep time 200ms, so I worried system will jump to sleep mode,

Cant power on again.

Q1: If use TCAN1146, is it possible TCAN1146 jump to sleep mode, then INH low, system cant power on again ?

Q2: If Q1 is possible, how to avoid TCAN1146 jump to sleep and let INH high ? Then system can power on again.

Best regards,

Wenting

  • Hi Wenting,

With default configurations, an undervoltage event on Vcc/Vio longer than tUVSLP will result in the transceiver moving into Fail-safe mode. In this mode, the INH signal remains active, so the INH signal will still be turned back on after the 300ms reset time from the watchdog. This will allow the BUCK and PMIC to power cycle and come back into an operational mode while resetting the MCU. Once Fail-safe mode is entered, the transceiver will start a ~4 minute SWE timer. The MCU will need to start up and move the transceiver into Normal mode within this time, otherwise the transceiver will automatically move into Sleep mode and turn off the INH signal.

As long as Fail-safe mode is enabled (default configuration), then there should be no issue using the watchdog in this way for this system.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Eric Schott
