TCAN1044AV-Q1: TCAN1044AV-Q1

Part Number: TCAN1044AV-Q1

Tool/software:

How do we select the value of CMC to be used in the differential lines ? Which is best 100 or 51uH? What is the calculation to be done , to get the value of inductor ?

  • Can we in real application go chokeless for TCAN1044AV-Q1 ?

  • Anamika,

51uH and 100uH are typical values for CMC in CAN applications, and in these components datasheets, it will give bode plots of where the impedance is highest at given frequencies. These can be used to determine what noise levels you want to filter out of your system, but again, 51uH and 100uH are the most common values for CMC.

Chokeless can be done in an application, but it is typically not recommended because in most CAN applications there is a large amount of RF noise. CMC are meant to filter this noise out from going into the transceiver, as well as mitigate the noise coming from the transceiver to the rest of the CAN bus. So, chokeless is possible but it's highly dependent on the individual application and if you expect a lot of noise and voltage transients to be present in the system.
