DS90UB954-Q1: data rate compatibilty and ser compatibilty with 971

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Ti,

Does DSUB9054 Des is compatible with 971 Serializer.

 Camera specification: 1993*1639mm

frame rate: 60fps

RAW16

Pl calculate data rate and tell the compatibility with 971 and 954 with this data rate per lane.

also let me know  what extent we will compromise if we pair FPDLink IV and FPDLink III ?

  • Hi Atul,

We would be able to use the UB971 with the UB954 but only in FPD3 mode of the UB971. This could be used in sync mode or non-sync mode with the UB954.

Please note that the link rate will be lower when the UB971 is paid with a UB954. The full link rate of 7.55Gbps (6Gbps CSI BW available) is supported when paired with a UB97x deserializer in FPD4 mode.

    Thomas

  • Hi,

according ot the data sheet single RX port can take up to 4.16gbps in Des 954. It is dual port so both port can support the same. if instead of dual i use single port for my system so can i use total bw on the single port (4.16+4.16gbps).

second thing  with resolution of 1936*1566 @60fps RAW 16

    MIPI CSI-2 Per lane :1106mbps

So would it be compatible with combination of SER 971>DES954.

pl elaborate about the both side ser and des Bandwidth.

  • Hi Atul,

If the MIPI CSI-2 rate is 1106Mbps per lane we would need to use 971 with a FPD4 deserializer. The FPD-Link ADAS format has 40 bit forward channel with 32 bits of data, in this case the 4.16 Gbps forward channel could not support this data rate. We would need a FPD4 SER/DES for this CSI payload.

  • Hi Thomas,

it means DES 954 is with this data rate is not compatible with SER971.

Can you suggest any DES which is compatible with ser 971 and FPD link 4 supports.

  • Hi Atul,

The UB971 is compatible with the UB954, however not at the full rate of 7.55Gbps. The UB971 would need to be configured into FPD3 backwards compatible mode shown below:

For operation at 7.55Gbps would 4 ports be needed or only 2 ports? If 4 ports are desired with a DPHY output U9702 could be used. For 2 ports with DPHY output UB9722 could be used.

    Best,

    Thomas
