DP83826I: Need for Bootstrap in Basic Mode

Part Number: DP83826I

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Is it necessary to use bootstrap when using in Basic mode?
Is it not necessary to use bootstrap when using each function by default?
(In other words, when using each function by default, is it not necessary to input a specific logic level(High/Low) to the Strap pin?)

Best Regards,

  • Hi Atsushi,

That is correct. If you want to use the 826 in basic mode, with the default configuration, then there is no need to include any bootstrap resistors. The ModeSelect pin will need to be shorted to GND to enable Basic mode, where the defaults are:

    PHY ADD: 1

    MII Interface

    Auto-Negotiation Enabled

    Speed: 100 Mbps

    Half Duplex

    MII Isolate Disabled

    Regards,

    Alvaro
