TIOL112: 24V DAQ IO

Part Number: TIOL112
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIOS102

Tool/software:

Hello:

We are considering TIOL112 as a general purpose DIO for a DAQ (24V capable). Do you see any issues with this approach? The thought here is to have one pin that can be input, output high side drive, output low side drive with all protection and current limiting. Is there any other solution/device that you would recommend?

One related question: Is there any low side driver chip with current limiting (in case short to supply while on)?

Thanks,

Pramod.

  • Hi Pramod,

Based on your description, the TIOL112 should work in that application.  The TIOS102 is a similar device generally used for DIO applications where IO-Link communication is not needed that you may be interested in using as well.  They are pin-for-pin compatible and the TIOS102 has an integrated pull-up or pull-down current to keep the output at a known potential when it is not actively driven.  The TIOL112 does not have this and the output is Hi-Z when the driver is disabled.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
