I have a confusion need your help.Based on the pic you shared last time as below,

If we has tusb211 close to SOC and TUSB214 close to connector

1. T1 follows TUSB211 pre-channel loss

2. What about T2, Is it followed TUSB211 post-channel loss or followed TUSB214 pre-channel loss?

3. T3+connector+Cable+device follows tusb214 post loss,right?

4. for USB3.0/3.1, standard defines the loss budget for host system,cable and device, Is there any relative define for USB2.0?

Hi Lisa,

T2 should follow TUSB214 pre-channel loss.

T3, you are correct.

For USB2, the max cable length is define but not channel budget. The max single cable length is 5 meters, the overall max length is 25 meters (With tiered hubs).

Hi Undrea:

Another question need double check.

For example, When TUSB214 is set to EQ-3 and DC Boost high, which is marked with red as below,

It means at this time TUSB214 can cover 5m pre-channel and 3m post-channel ,total 8m cable length and at 8m cable point can pass the eye-mask test (near end),Right?

Total Pre + Post channel should be limited to ~6m cable. The redriver can compensate for 5m pre-channel or 3m post-channel with some margin added.
