Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5528
Tool/software:
I am looking for a very low-cost small-footprint way to connect a phone, charger and an MSP430 device (MSP430F5528). The microcontroller has a small back up battery and the board only requires a few mA to operate. The phone and/or the charger can be connected at the same time or either can be disconnected. Data rates are a few 10s of kb/s so USB 2.0 data rates are adequate
- Is it possible to hard-wire them without any additional controller as in the attached diagram? Can it be done with the addition of components such as diodes, or a load switch?
- If a controller is needed for USB 2.0, what device is suitable? Is there a reference design or app-note?
- Is there a similar reference design for USB-C?
Thanks a lot
