DP83869HM: What are the pros/cons of supplying power to the VDDA1P8 Supply?

Part Number: DP83869HM

Tool/software:

Hello,

I read the datasheet for the DP83869HM, which indicates the VDDA1P8 supply is optional.  Does anyone know the pros and cons of adding a 1.8V supply vs. not adding one?

I should mention, I have a Point of Load Regulator on my board which produces 1.8V.  But the denotation of vdda1p8 implies the 1.8V is an Analog Supply, and therefore should come from an LDO.  If I do not have to add a 1.8V LDO supply to my board, I would not, unless there is a defined benefit.

What exactly does the vdda1p8 power, and is that supply sensitive to ripple from a switching regulator?

Thank you in advance.
