TCAN1044-Q1: TCAN1044VDDFR CAN radiated spurious emissions

Part Number: TCAN1044-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1044A-Q1,

Tool/software:

Hello,

We have recently completed some testing and noticed that we get a 240 mhz radiated spurious emission on our CAN bus. The emission appears every 10ms and correlates with us reading from our our sensors. The emission disappears when the CAN bus is turned off. We currently use the TCAN1044VDDFR CAN transceiver part with a common mode choke and split termination. Is there anything we can do further to filter this emission? Please note, snap on ferrites on the cables brought the emission down by 9 dB. The CAN bus splits out on to 2 connectors. I've attached a schematic diagram below. Any help with this is appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hi Jonathan,

Would you please try to use TCAN1044A-Q1? It's an upgraded version of TCAN1044-Q1 with enhanced EMC performance, we don't recommend to use TCAN1044 anymore.

Please send me an email to s-guo2@ti.com so I can share the EMC test report of TCAN1044A-Q1 which was performed by third party. Your schematic looks good, usually the emission can meet the limit when CMC used. Please let me know your testing method and what is the EMC limit allowed.

    Regards,

    Sean
