DS90UB960-Q1: Interleaved virtual channels pattern generator on DS90UB960 or DS90UB971

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

Can we genetare such CSI data on 1 Port with pattern generator on DS90UB960 or DS90UB971?

I have no enough sensors on hand, so I want to simulate interleaved virtual channels insdie the SerDes?

  • Hello Jone,

This is a synchronized forwarding mode where the video data from each connected sensor must arrive at the deserializer RX Port at the same time. This is possible through PATGEN.

You need to first disable all unused RX Ports on the DES. Then, use simultaneous writes to each connected serializer. Configure and enable PATGEN on each connected serializer at the same time. This allows each serializer to send video data to the RX Port at the same time.

This can be achieved on the DES by setting the SER_ALIAS_ID of each connected serializer to the same value (e.g. 0x36). If, for example, you send an I2C command to register address 0x36 on the DES I2C bus, the DES will duplicate the command and send it to multiple connected serializers.

  • Hi Justin,

    Thanks for your reply.

What I need to generate a CSI pattern data with interleaved virtual channels from one port directly.

My setup looks like this, I have no cameras and 4 seralizers on hand.

I have only one seralizers and one hub deserializer.

  • Hi Jone,

    Could you clarify?

Do you have 4 serializers or only 1 serializer in your setup? The picture suggests that you only have 1 serializer.

If you only have 1 serializer, then you just need to disable the other unused 3 RX Ports and configure the 960/9702 device for Line-Interleave forwarding. However, the aggregated data outputted won't look that much different than any other forwarding method.

If you have 4 serializers, then you can first connect to each serializer and then set the SER_ALIAS_ID of each RX Port to the same I2C address. Then, configure PATGEN on all connected serializers at the same time. This will ensure each serializer is outputting video data at the same time and it is possible to use a synchronized forwarding method, such as Line-Interleave forwarding.

  • Hi Justin,

I see there‘s no possibitliy to generate 4 VCs in 1 SerDes. I'm trying to emulate such data via FPGA.
