Hi Sky,

The bus failure management is a system-level dependent specification which is not very related to a single transceiver. The CAN physical layer defined by ISO 11898 is designed to work with multiple nodes and can still communicate normally with non-terminating node lost. According to ISO 11898, placing termination on a node should be avoided since the bus lines lose termination if the node is disconnected from the bus. However it is still possible to communicate with only one terminating node disconnected. For a bit more information on this, please reference the application note below:
