TRS232E: Baudrate support

Part Number: TRS232E

Tool/software:

Hello,

I would like you to confirm about following two.

Q1, I understand that this device support up to 250kbps as data rate.
So, I understand that this device support baudrate "115200 bps".
Is my understanding correct ?

Q2, If answer of above is "YES", could you please tell me what case do you support for "250kbps" ?
Because, in general, such high speed 250kbps is NOT supported to cable connection.

Best Regards,
Machida / TED

  • 1. Yes.

    2. Higher speeds can work for sufficiently short cables.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.
For answer "2", is there any data which you successed communication by using this data rate ?
Because, in general, speicification for RS232C gurantee cable communication up to 115200 bps.
I would like to know how long cable length you can used.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Machida,

We don't specifically test our parts with cabling. You may need to test this yourself with your system and cable since this can vary in each system. The distance is basically limited due to the cabling's capacitance causing AC losses. Using a cable with lower capacitance would help achieve longer distance. The TRS232E is one of our better devices for longer distance since it does have a higher output drive strength than most of our portfolio (9V vs. our 5.5V).

  • Hello Bobby-san,

    >higher output drive strength than most of our portfolio (9V vs. our 5.5V).
I have already found "9V" in your product page.
However, I did not find this spec in datasheet. (According to datasheet, it seems that this output drive strength(Voh and Vol) is 7V.)

    Is "9V" correct information ?

  • Hi Machida,

    Is "9V" correct information ?

No, Sorry, I looked at the product page for the device which says 9V (this needs to be fixed).

The datasheet is the one we need to look at and use which shows +/-7V.
