◆Question

This device (TCA9517A) and the TCA9517 have the same terminals.

Are the internal specifications the same?

Is the TCA9517A a suitable replacement for the TCA9517?

Best regards

  • The datasheet says:

The TCA9517A offers a higher contention level threshold, VILC, than the TCA9517, which allows connections to slaves which have weaker pulldown ability.

  • Additional questions

    >The TCA9517A offers a higher contention level threshold, VILC, than the TCA9517, which allows connections to slaves which have weaker pulldown ability.

⇒ In other words, can a larger pull-up resistor be connected to the TCA9517A compared to the TCA9517?

Also, other than VILC, are there any other specification differences compared to TCA9517?

    Best regards

  • Both TCA9517 and TCA9517A support many different pull-up resistors. The question is how low the worst-case VOL of your other I²C devices is.

As far as I can see, there are no other differences.

  • User6448843,

"larger pull-up" as in stronger pull-up yes. Stronger means smaller resistance value which would push the VOL higher. VILC = 0.45V allows for more margin here.

Also, other than VILC, are there any other specification differences compared to TCA9517?

    VILC is the only change.
