DS92LV1212A input GND reference

In the datasheet, the power and ground pins are explicitly marked, but the RI+/- (LVDS) and REFCLK signal pins are not. Which signal pins are referenced to which grounds? More specifically, are the LVDS inputs referenced to DGND or AGND? I'm thinking only the REFCLK (pin 3) signal pin should be referenced to AGND and the rest of the signal pins are referenced to DGND, but I would like confirmation of this fact.

Thanks.

  • Greetings -

The DS92LV1212A is a mixed signal Deserializer device.  The AVCC & AGND domain is used for the BLVDS/LVDS receiver, and PLL mainly.  The DVCC & DGND are used for the digital circuits, control block, and also the LVCMOS I/O ring.  Therefore the RI+/- is on the Analog domain, and the LVCMOS I/O including the REFCLK input is on the digital domain.

In many applications the AGND and DGND are connected to a common ground plane.  In some applications an additional filter or small ferrite can be used on the AVCC feed.  Thank you for your interest in TI Interface devices.

  • Hello John Goldie,

Could you please tell me when AGND and DGND are connected to a common ground plane and when to use additional filter.

    Thanks,
