TCA9548A: I2C Data Hold Time

Part Number: TCA9548A

Tool/software:

Hi TI Team,

I saw Data hold time of I2C in datasheet is 0ns.

But i also saw the note:  A device internally must provide a hold time of at least 300 ns for the SDA signal (referred to the VIH min of the SCL signal), to bridge the undefined region of the falling edge of SCL.

As i understand, TI device has internally shift SDA or SCL to meet 300ns requirement and at board level, we just care about 0ns spec.

Is it right?

Thanks,

  • Hi Duong,

This comes from I2C standard, our I2C device isn't affected by this timing spec. The latest version of the spec still calls for 0 without a call out on a 300ns on SDA. It only requires that SCL falls below 30% of VCC before SDA enters the 30-70 or 70-30 range.

Please let me know if this helps!

    Regards,

    Kameron
