Hi Gareth,

We recommend to use TCAN1057A-Q1 for new designs. The old TCAN1042&1051 part are no longer recommended unless customer need ±70V bus protection feature of the H-variant. For the reference design please use the TCAN1042DEVM as a start, https://www.ti.com/tool/TCAN1042DEVM

For a more advanced board, we also have a new socket EVM just released that can be used for all TI's 8 pin CAN transceivers.
