Is THVD1520 a drop-in replacement for SN75176B and has better specs than SN75176B? We are now using SN75176B to interface with the IEbus network in some Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Just want to see if THVD1520 is a better option without needing to change our other hardware and software.

    Max Data rate Not Spec'd 10Mbps Based on the rise/fall time below, I suspect the data rate to be similar 
    Max differential rise/fall time 22ns 30ns Sn75176B slightly faster (faster isn't always better but we want them close to each other)
    Vth+ 200mV -50mV THVD1520 has the internal fail safe feature (better in my opinion)
    Typical VoD RL 54 ohms 2.5V 2.5V Similar VoD performance
    Unit load 1UL 1/8UL THVD1520 has better input impedance 
    Vcc typical 5V 5V same Vcc level supported
    ESD ratings No Yes See datasheet for full table (includes EFT as well)
    Tj max 150C 170C Higher Tj support

    From the table, it looks like THVD1520 should drop in no issues since it has better specs than the 176B (if customer is using SOIC package).
