THVD4431EVM: IC version

Part Number: THVD4431EVM

Tool/software:

Hello,

I recently bought the THVD4431EVM. I saw in the user guide that jumpers J28 and J29 need to be set depending on the IC version.
Can you tell me if it is a new or an old chip on the picture?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hi Rob,

I think the IC on the board is the original pinout based on the top marking (it has PTHVD which means pre release to market). I may need to reach out to the original designer of the board to verify but I'm leaning towards it being the older pinout. I'll see if the original board designer can confirm.

  • Rob,

He believes the IC is the old variant as well.

I think you can use a digital multimeter using the DC voltage reading to look for a voltage drop from the device's diode.

Probe any L pin with positive probe and probe pins 2 or 3 on J29 and then there will be a voltage drop if pin 16 is VIO.

Alternatively I believe there should be a diode between GND and Vio so if you used red probe on GND and black probe on pin 16, if there is a voltage there then it would also mean it's the original device (newer one would have OL/open load).

  • Hello,

    I have the old version.

    Thanks for your help.
