TUSB211A: Solution to eliminate data line negotiation errors

Tool/software:

Hi,

When I connected a custom board and a third-party product with USB2.0, a negotiation error occurred.

I hope that by installing a Redriver on the USB2.0 data line, the signal will improve.

Since an error is occurring on the data line, the TUSB211A seems to be suitable for my purpose. Do you have any advice?

Also, when installing the TUSB211A in my system, I would like to confirm whether it is okay to install it together with the TUSB542, TUSB322I, and TPD6S300.

Thanks,

Conor

  • Hi Conor,

A TUSB211A should be good for improving your USB2 signal, yes! The TUSB542, TUSB322I, and TPD6S300 shouldn't cause any issues either. The TUSB542 is a USB3 redriver, the TUSB322I is a type-c configuration device, and the TPD6S300 is a type-C port protector, all of which do not interact with the USB2 signals, so there should be no issues there.

For advice, here is what I have:

    • Make sure to follow the typical application and the layout design requirements. The USB2 lines DO NOT need to be broken to incorporate a USB2 redriver, the signals just need to connect through the corresponding pins (D1/2P, D1/2M).
    • For initial settings, we recommend starting at a lower setting, such as Boost 1, to ensure there is no overcompensation.
    • For device operation, make sure the USB2 redriver is powered before any data is sent through the USB2 lines to ensure it enables properly.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
