TCA9517: Can translator be used for MDIO to PHY communication

Can this level shift also be used for MDIO communication as well as i2c?

    Hi Anthony,

    TCA9517 is an i2c buffer. It can still do level shifting as well. 

    I think MDIO can communicate up to 2.5 MHz. If this is the data rate desired, TCA9517 will not be a good fit as this device is rated for 400 kHz. 

    I recommend looking into a device such as TCA39306 for level translation needs.
