Hi Expert Team,

Can you somebody suggest or guide us our design query which related to our new development with TFT LCD Display which is working on 1.8V LVDS interface. we came across lot of search activity but we unable to find right solution. if anybody having solution please reply to us and mention the manufacturer part number of interfacing IC which is compatible to display interface.

problem statement

We need to interface a 4-Lane LVDS Display which is 3.3V IO level but our processor supports the 1.8V level, Is there any 4-LANE LVDS bidirectional level shifter available in TI?

LVDS uses differential signalling; the supply voltage of the transceiver is not directly related to that. In most cases, you should be able to directly connect LVDS to LVDS. Compare the driver's output common-mode voltage against the receiver's input common-mode voltage range.

What is your expected input / output signal type? Clemens is right that LVDS can be connected to LVDS without needing a level shifter.

our input from SoC side 1.8v LVDS signal, which is to be connected at output side 3.3v LVDS external display. so I need LVDS to LVDS level shifter IC.Presentation1.pptx

Hi Rajesh,

Check the LVDS common mode value of the SoC device that you are using. This is usually called Vcm. Then, check the 3.3V LVDS external display to check if the Vcm output from the SoC will be within the range of the LVDS external display input. If the SoC and external display meet the LVDS standard, they should be ok to interface with one another.

Still we have bit of confusion on the queries. I have attached SoC data sheet and External display data sheet for cross check the Vcm. Please confirm the same ,we should go ahead or not7127.Presentation1.pptx..?

Hi Rajesh,

I am not an expert on these devices, especially since they are not TI products, and I am unable to look over the datasheets since you have only provided snippets. It appears that the second sheet meets the Vcm of LVDS. I am not sure about the Vcm of the first datasheet since it is not listed. It is listed as the LVDS I/O DC Characteristics, so assuming this is correct you are fine.
