DS90UB964-Q1: Can 964 replace 962? Please compare the application materials.

Part Number: DS90UB964-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

The customer's mass production library still has some 964 chips that are sluggish and need to be consumed. Could you please help me see if 964 can replace 962 (several projects are using 962)?
Is there any information that can be provided to customers on the differences in hardware and software configurations between the two?

  • Hi team,

    Add some info:

    The customer found that the 0x1f registers of the two chips are different, as follows:
    In the current code, the 0x1f register of 962 is set to 0x01. Can you please help confirm whether it is feasible to set 964 to 0x01? (Can 964 support 1.2Gbps?)
    If not, it will involve software configuration modification;

  • Hello Alan,

    Which SER and which mode is being used?

    However, the 962 and the 964 are two different devices. These can't replace each other since you will need hardware modification such as PoC. Also, the 964 does support DVP mode (RAW10 and RAW12) only but not the CSI sync mode. Hence, you can't use the 964 instead of the 960.
