TCAN3403-Q1: Identify CAN signal or CAN FD signal when receiving the signal at CANH pin and CANL pin

Hi team,

My customer would like to identify CAN signal or CAN FD signal when TCAN3403-Q1 receives the signal at CANH pin and CANL pin. Are there any fuctions which achive the identification of CAN or CAN FD in TCAN3403-Q1?

My customer assumes the output signal at RXD pin has the difference in CAN signal and CAN FD signal.

Yamamoto-san,

This is not a function that CAN transceiver is capable of, deciding classical CAN or CAN FD is handled by CAN controller.

Thank you for the reply. Do you mean the software of CAN controller in MCU decide classical CAN or CAN FD?

I am assuming there are no ways to decide CAN or CAN FD by TCAN3403-Q1 itself? I just want to double check if my understanding is correct.

Yamamoto-san,

Yes, there are no ways to decided CAN or CAN FD by TCAN3403-Q1 itself, transceiver doesn't care what protocol the data it's translating. It's the software on CAN controller to recognize it.
