My self Krupanand from BAE Systems, UK. Currently i am looking for SMPTE-424 (SDI-3G) Equalizer with ≥ 3Gbps speed. My input signal type should be LVDS and output signal type is CML signal.

Could you please suggest the following part supporting to my requirement or not?

Part: LMH0050

Also could you provide any other parts available with my requirements.

Suggestion is to use LMH0324 for the 3G equalizer.

Then deserializer you can consider either using FPGA or LMH0341. Please note LMH0341 requires or needs FPGA IP. At 3G, FPGAs are able to do de-serialization (i.e function of the LMH0341). You can contact FPGA vendors to acquire this IP.

I have found another part as LMH1219. This part supports more than 3Gbps speed. But I could not find input and output signal type in datasheet. Is this part supports my requirement?

LMH0324 or LMH1219 are SDI equalizer. I am not sure we know what you need. Please send us a block diagram of your overall application so we can comment accordingly.

I have provided the block diagram for my application. Please go through it. suggest me suitable part for this application.

As i Discussed initially, The general requirements are

1. It supports SMPTE-424 (SDI-3G)

2. Input Signal type: LVDS and Output Signal Type: CML

3. Speed: ≥ 3Gbps

Greetings,

1)/ Suggestion is to first use LMH0324 or LMH0384 instead of LMH0387. This is because you just need an equalizer. LMH0387 has more functionality and it is not needed in this application.

2). You do not need LVDS to CML converter. Please AC couple between LVDS and FPGA CML input. Please note figure 16 of the LMH0324 data sheet. Note 4.7uF Caps on OUT0 and OUT1 going to FPGA.

Hello Nasser

I cannot Change the LMH0387. the output signals of LMHo387 is LVDS. These signals i cannot directly give to FPGA. That's why i need LVDS to CML conversion based equalizer. My requirements as per block diagram is follows

LVDS to CML Equalizer:

Input: LVDS signals

Output: CML

Additionally speed: ≥ 3Gbps

Thanks Nasser.

The above part (DS25CP104 ) likely work to my application. I have question below.

As datasheet stated that, this device accepts the CML input also. My CML driver has 1.2V supply. Is it accepts the 1.2V Supply driver inputs?

Hi Krupanand,

LVDS inputs have a wide input common mode voltage so you can DC couple as you have shown in the above image. You can also AC couple as well.
