TCAN1042DEVM: How to determine C3 and C5 under what circumstances?

Part Number: TCAN1042DEVM

Tool/software:

Hello,

The EVM has C3 and C5, though they are DNI.
Under what circumstances should they be populated?
And under the circumstances that C3 and C5 are required, how can users determine the values of C3 and C5 respectively?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hirano-san,

These are footprints to filter digital signals in case there is any noise coupling on the signal coming from the controller to the transceiver, or vice versa. Typical values would be 10pF, but these are not required nor recommended unless you are already seeing issues with noise on the TXD and RXD lines.
