DS90UB954-Q1: Recommendations for DS90UB954-Q1 related solutions

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

The customer is using DS90UB954-Q1 to transmit video data. The current test shows that the transmission distance can reach 8 meters. The customer wants to achieve a longer transmission distance. Do you have any good solutions or product recommendations?

Thanks!

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. Can you provide some more details about your use case to help narrow down which products will be best suited? Information such as the desired resolutions, number of cameras, and desired features are useful. In general the distance that FPD-Link can support is not a device specific feature. The supportable distance depends on many aspects such as the environment, speed, layout, cable quality, insertion and return loss, etc. Depending on the system and cables used, the same device can support various distances.

  • hello,

The customer designed according to the following diagram, adding a 5V power supply on the coaxial line for sensor power supply. They want to achieve transmission over a distance of 50 meters. Is there a good solution? Is there a voltage amplitude limit on the coaxial line?

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

We have not validated any devices reaching distances over 50 meters. However, to reach longer distances multiple devices can be used to create a repeater (serializer -> deserializer -> serializer -> deserializer). Based on the image it seems that you are asking about the voltage used for a power over coax circuit. An appropriate voltage for power over coax is based on system considerations. The min/max values will vary based on the system design. One major consideration is that the selected voltage should allow for all components to remain within their operational ratings and that there is enough current available to power the serializer and camera.
