TCAN3413: Schematic review

Part Number: TCAN3413

Tool/software:

Dear team,

My customer would like to use TCAN3413DR for  their application like below.

Please review below schematic and let me know your opinion.

- If V_IO pin is floating status, what is default IO voltage? Is there any side effect when V_IO pin is floating?

Thank you.

  • Dino,

The schematic looks fine except for the VIO pin. This needs to be supplied by 1.8V-5V for the device to work properly. The voltage will depend on what logic voltage TXD, RXD, and STB are receiving from the controller. If VIO is not supplied, it will go into undervoltage lockout and not be able to fully power on.

I'd also recommend adding some protective components on the CANH and CANL pins like a TVS diode for voltage transients, and a common-mode choke for high-frequency noise reduction.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
