The datasheet of this PHY was updated, for the operation to enter local sleep mode, there is a new step as shown below: (step 3)

So the question is, what are the two registers 0x042F 0x041E meaning? What are they used for? Can I jump this step?

Hi Zicong,

These registers are used to force the PHY into sleep mode. This step cannot be jumped.

Which revision of the datasheet do you have where it is not updated?

These two revisions are different as below.

Are these 2 registers neccessary for sleep mode? We are using the the old revision to set PHY into sleep mode now, and it looks fine.

Yes, please include these registers.

These registers will ensure the PHY remains in sleep mode under all test cases.
