TCAN1043A-Q1: NMEA 2000 questions

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer has a RFQ project and they need to use NMEA 2000 interface. They want to know if our CAN PHY can support NMEA 2000 interface.

Besides, they also want to know if we have any material that is about NMEA 2000 interface. It is their first time to do such design.

They want to know the voltage & current requirement of these pins.

Regards,

Peter

  • Peter,

Yes, NMEA physical layer definition is based on ISO11898, so our CAN transceivers are compatible. We do not have any specific material on NMEA 2000 construction or design, it may be best for the customer to purchase the specification on their own to understand the design requirements.

As far as the connector goes, pin 2 is meant to be VCC, so 5V in most cases for CAN.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
