DS250DF230EVM: CE/EU Declaration of Conformity (aka EU DoC) required

Part Number: DS250DF230EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS250DF410EVM, DS280DF810EVM

Tool/software:

Hi

Can you please confirm DS250DF230EVM is CE-marked?

And if "YES", please provide the CE/EU Declaration of Conformity. I cannot find it on the T.I website.

Thank you

  • Hi Chris,

Unfortunately this particular EVM is not CE marked.

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas

As it is not CE marked, I understand that this means the product is NOT suitable to be placed on the EU and UK markets.

    Please confirm this is correct.

Or, if the product is somehow out of the scope of the CE marking requirement, please explain.

Thank you in advance for your quick response

  • Hi Chris,

I believe DS250DF230EVM was never qualified for CE marking. I don't believe there was any particular reason which prevents the EVM from meeting CE marking requirements, the qualification was just never checked.

Note that similar EVMs such as DS250DF410EVM and DS280DF810EVM do have CE marking.

  • Hi Lucas

I am sorry this does not answer my question and you may need to liaise with our compliance team to help respond.

When a product is under the scope of one (or more) CE directives calling for CE, it must be CE marked and have a CE/EU DoC from the manufacturer (i.e. T.I) in order to be suitable to be placed on the CE/EU market.

You indicated that DS250DF230EVM is not CE-marked so there are two possible situations:

Either the product is somehow out of the scope of CE - if that is the case, we would need T.I to explain how CE is not required for this product to be suitable for the EU market. As you pointed out indeed, other similar products are under the scope of CE, so we would need to understand the reason CE is not required on this one.

    or;

It is under the scope of CE, not exempt from CE, and as it is not currently CE, it is not suitable to be placed on the EU market. The product would need to be CE marked and have a CE/EU DoC to be suitable to be placed on the EU market.

If we are in the second scenario, but the product could meet the CE requirements, then T.I. would need to apply the CE mark and draw the CE/EU DoC for this product to be suitable to be placed on the EU market.

  • Hi Chris,

The second scenario is correct. DS250DF230EVM is under the scope of CE but not currently CE.

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas

Are you saying that It is under the scope of CE, not exempt from CE, and as it is not currently CE, it is not suitable to be placed on the EU market?

I just want to make sure I understand your response correctly.

  • Hi Chris,

    Yes that is correct.

    Lucas

  • Will T.I work on CE this product or is T.I preventing from offering this product to the EU market from now?

  • Hi Chris,

We do wish to get DS250DF230EVM CE marked, however we don't have a plan to get this done in the near future.

    Best,

    Lucas

  • Hi Lucas

Thank you for the information. What is T.I doing in the meantime to prevent placing this product, non-CE marked, on the EU market?

  • Hi Chris,

TI is not actively preventing this product from being qualified for CE marking. The qualification process simply wasn't followed when the EVM was released. We currently have other priorities which limit our bandwidth on completing the qualification.

    Best,

    Lucas
