XIO3130: PCIE Switch IC XIO3130 issue

Part Number: XIO3130

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Can you help look at the issue from my customer ABB?

we have used the chip XIO3130 in our design. The PCIe_UP_CLKP/N is 100MHz,and PCIe_UP_Nreset is high in noral operation.we also captured those two signals with oscillograph. And we also captured PCIe_UP_TXP/N(it should be RXP/N for XIO3130, and TXP/N for SoC from xilix ) waveform with oscillograph, but we can't detect the PCIe_UP_RXP/N(it should be TXP/N for XIO3130, and RXP/N for SoC from xilix ).The below pictures are the CLK signal and PCIe_UP_TXP/N sigal waveformes. We set the PCIe_UP_CLKP/N PCB trace impedence to 100Ω,PCIe_UP_TXP/N and PCIe_UP_RXP/N is 85Ω. but why XIO3130 don't send the PCIe data signals? The below also includes the schemeatic.

The below is the CLK /TX waveformes and the schematic.

Can you help look into this case? Thanks!

BR,

Xiaoying

  • Hi Xiaoying,

Please allow me to look into this a bit further and get back to you.
In the meantime, please note the XIO3130 Implementation Guide as a reference to your customer so that they can double-check their setup: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slla295a/slla295a.pdf
Additionally, note the XIO3130 Errata if these have not been checked already: https://www.ti.com/lit/er/sllz071a/sllz071a.pdf

Note that this part is quite old and obsolete, so there is limited information available.

    Best,
    David

  • Hi David and Xiaoying,

Thanks for your response. The XIO3130 chip is used in our old module, and we use the same schematic circuit to layout in our another product upgrade project. But it seems that it doesn't work. i have double checked the XIO3130 Implementation Guide document and also checked the power on sequence and power on timming of this new layout board with XIO3130 chip. The same result, upstream reset/clock/tx are all ok,but there is no signal in the rx.

Can you give us some comments about this debug issue?it is weird.

  • Hi Abby,

Could you please attach a scope capture of the signal observed on the device's TX / SoC RX (PCIe_UP_RXP/N)?

    Additionally, could you please also:

    • Specify if you are programming the device via external EEPROM, or if any configuration is being performed via serial bus?
    • Confirm if this issue is seen on multiple boards, or just one board?

    Best,
    David
