We use DS90UB953-Q1 and DS90UB954-Q1,want to extend the transmission distance;We use them like this: ,We need to transmit video data and control commands,bidirectional transmission; Please recommend me redriver or other approaches,thank you!

    The DS90UB953 and DS90UB954 can achieve transmission distances of up to 15m depending on the cable and system design. Can you elaborate what the desired transmission distance is here?

    To extend the video transmission distance for FPD-Link devices we would recommend to use additional SerDes pairs. Implementation of this will depend on the video data being transmitted and system implementation. From a high level, the deserializer output will be the input to another FPD-Link serializer. Would you be able to share more information on the system being used here? This would include the video resolution, data type, number of imagers, etc.

    The video resolution is 1920*1080,60fps;Data is raw;number of imagers is 1;We must recieve the video data and send the configure data;The DS90UB953-Q1 6.5.1 I2C Interface Configuration  say up to two device addresses are supported. How should we achieve transmission distances of 50m?

    Thanks for sharing the additional information on the system. In order to reach the 50m distance discussed here, more than one serializer deserializer pair will be needed. An example system will look something like the following:

    DS90UB953 -> DS90UB954 -> DS90UB953 -> DS90UB954

    Please note the DS90UB953 is limited to an input data rate of 832Mbps/lane. 

    Secondly, the exact cable reach that will be achievable will be dependent on the system design. FPD-Link devices have Channel Specification documents that will define the total S-parameter results that must be met across the entire frequency range which will influence the cable reach. Ultimately, FPD-Link devices are not confined to a set transmission distance so long as the Channel Specifications are met.

    Thank you for your reply.If I must use three or more DS90UB953s,How I set them device address.The DS90UB953 only can  supporte two device addresses.

    The serializers may have the same IDX address and still be accessed separately via I2C aliasing. On the DS90UB954, the serializer alias can be configured to a unique value via register SER_ALIAS_ID (0x5B). Additional target devices can be configured in the TARGETID and TARGETALIAS registers. For transactions to p[[ass through with this method, I2C passthrough must be enabled.
