ISOW7842 and TRS3232 | Schematic Review

Part Number: TRS3232
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISOW7842

Tool/software:

Hello,

Schematic review for ISOW7842 and TRS3232:

Using the TRS3232 and ISOW7842 for a RS-232 link between two custom PCBAs to provide isolation (prevent ground loops, etc.) -- both PCBAs would have the same circuit schematic as shown below.

It looks like the ISOW7842 does not need a pull up on the RS-232 TX line - wondering if anyone has used these two parts, correct?

  • Hello,

For the TRS3232, the DIN2 pin cannot be floating. Please connect it to ground. And just to confirm, is the VCC_RS232 line 3.3V? For the charge pump capacitors you have placed, the VCC needs to be 3.3V.

Otherwise from an RS232 perspective, everything looks good. A pull-up should not be needed, but if you want extra confirmation I would create a separate post of that question with the ISO part number instead.

Let me know if you have any other questions,
