DS160PR412-421EVM: The GPU graphics card is not recognized on the PEG side

Part Number: DS160PR412-421EVM

Tool/software:

The PEG side is connected to the GPU graphics card, the current phenomenon is not to recognize the GPU graphics card, please help check whether there is a problem with the schematic, thank you.

  • Hi Jie,

I noticed that there is a 10uf capacitor missing on VCC. Can you provide more information about the case? When SEL: 1-A 0-B, is the GPU detected?

    B.R,

    Nick

  • In addition, pin17 keeps pulling low, and when the PEG side is only connected to channel A, this test finds that the GPU is not recognized.

  • Hi Jie,

The customer's Pin17 is not configured correctly.

As you can see above from the DS160PR412-421EVM user's guide, the options for SEL are determined by either pulling the SEL pin 17 high with 1k ohm resistor, or pulling the SEL pin 17 low with a 1k ohm resistor. The implementation used by the customer has a 10k ohm resistor and does not isolate the source from the ground. The source and ground are connected by the 10k ohm resistor and this is adding current draw.

    Best,

    Nick
